From May 17 to 21, Professor Frédérik Thiery, Dean of the School of Precision and Experimental Sciences of University of Perpignan, France, along with his delegation, paid a visit to HNU. The purpose of their visit was to discuss and explore opportunities for closer collaboration between the two institutions, as well as to conduct on-site inspections.
On the morning of May 20, Feng Shuxia, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of HNU, held a meeting with Professor Frédérik Thiery and his delegation. They discussed the successful cooperation and exchanges between the two universities over the past decade and agreed to use the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France as an opportunity to further enhance collaboration. They aim to introduce high-quality French educational resources and integrate them with HNU’s strengths in various disciplines. The discussion also covered topics such as Sino-foreign cooperative education institutions, discipline development, and scientific research partnerships.
The meeting on collaborative educational institutions between China and France took place in Conference Room 709 of Qiuzhen Building. Representatives and staff members from College of International Education, College of Mathematics and Information Science and School of Physics were in attendance. Frédérik Thiery presented the specific details of the School of Precision and Experimental Sciences, including its discipline offerings, size, degree programs, and national laboratories. He emphasized the institution’s unique strengths in integrating industry and education, as well as its international partnerships, expressing a desire to further strengthen collaborations with HNU. Following this, both parties focused on “elite training” as the core starting point, discussing project curriculum development and scientific research team cooperation.
During the visit, Vice President Song Ye met with the French delegation and expressed great enthusiasm for the extensive cooperation opportunities between the two universities. Frédérik Thiery and his team then visited School of Physics, College of Mathematics and Information Sciences, College of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and the Office of Information Technology Management. They had the chance to explore the Ultrafast Spectroscopy Laboratory, the Advanced Semiconductor and Device Integration Laboratory, and the High-Performance Computing platform. Additionally, Frédérik Thiery delivered a captivating lecture titled “Scientific Research at the University of Perpignan” to both faculty and students.
