The School of Materials Science and Engineering has two undergraduate majors: New Energy Materials and Devices, Functional Materials; it owns two key disciplines of Henan Province: Materials Science and Engineering, New Energy Technology and Energy Storage Technology; it also owns some research platforms such as Henan Advanced Electrochemical Energy Storage Materials Design and Recycling Engineering Technology Research Center. In 2006, it was granted two second-level master's degree programs in Materials Physics & Chemistry and Materials Science. In 2011, it was granted a first-level master's degree program in Materials Science and Engineering. In 2018, the discipline of Materials Science was added to ESI Global Top 1% ranking (Clarivate Analytics), becoming the third discipline in the university to enter ESI Global Top 1%.

The school has a young faculty team mainly composed of top scientific talents from the world's Highly Cited Scientists, winners of National Major Talent Project, young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions to our country, State Council Special Allowance Experts, New Century Excellent Talents in University by the Ministry of Education, Central Plains Science and Technology Innovation Leading Talents of the Central Plains Thousand Talents Plan, Central Plains Young Top Talents of the Central Plains Thousand Talents Plan, academic and technical leaders of Henan Province, and provincial distinguished professors, etc. The school mainly focuses on New Energy Materials and Devices, Functional Materials and other fields to carry out scientific research, and has published related papers in internationally renowned journals such as Adv. Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., etc. It has successively undertaken research projects such as Henan Joint Fund Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Higher Education Scientific Research (Science & Technology) Projects by the Ministry of Education, general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, etc.

Gao Shuyan

Doctoral supervisor, second-level professor, dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Henan Normal University. Distinguished professor for the National Major Talent Project, candidate for National Bai-Qian-Wan Talents, and the recipient of the second prize in Natural Science of the Ministry of Education (the first author).

 

Engaged in the long-term research of waste resource utilization, electrocatalytic synthesis of ammonia under the regulation of nitrogen cycle and self-driven electrocatalysis.

Presiding over 2 joint key projects and 4 general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As the first or corresponding author, having published over 150 papers in international high-level academic journals such as Angew, AM, EES, etc., with 25 ESI highly cited papers and an H-index of 64.

The team platform has been equipped with in-situ Raman, in-situ electrochemical mass spectrometer, in-situ XRD, desktop XAS and other equipment. We are seeking international partners with senior experience in in-situ synchrotron radiation and related in-situ spectroscopic testing, to jointly carry out research on the fine structure analysis of catalyst materials, in-situ characterization of catalytic process mechanisms, share testing equipment and technology, promote collaboration, exchange and talent cultivation, and promote technological progress and development in the field of catalytic materials.
