The College of Political Science and Public Administration was established in 1980 and is one of the primary sources of fundamental theoretical disciplines in the humanities and social sciences at Henan Normal University. It serves as a crucial base for cultivating professionals in ideological and political education, political science, philosophy, and public administration.
The College boasts a robust faculty, with 108 full-time faculty and staff members currently employed, including 17 professors, 13 of whom are doctoral supervisors; 26 associate professors; and 78 teachers holding doctoral degrees, accounting for 71.5% of the full-time teaching staff. The College possesses a first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization site and a postdoctoral research mobile station in Political Science, a first-level discipline master’s degree site in Philosophy, two professional master’s degree sites in Public Administration (MPA) and Subject Teaching (Ideological and Political Education); and six undergraduate majors in Political Science and Administration, International Politics, Administrative Management, Urban Management, Public Service Management, and Philosophy, with Political Science and Administration, International Politics, and Administrative Management designated as National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Points. The College has developed several disciplinary directions, including Political Theory, History of the Communist Party of China, Chinese and Foreign Political Systems, International Strategy and Chinese Diplomacy, Government and Policy, and Scientology and Scientific Metrology.
The College has undertaken and completed a total of 53 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National Social Science Fund of China, including major, key, and general projects, over 200 projects funded by the Ministry of Education’s Humanities and Social Sciences Research, Provincial Social Science Foundation of Henan Province, and other provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects. It has published over a hundred academic monographs, textbooks, and reference books, and more than 500 papers in SCI, SSCI, A&HCI, CSSCI journals, as well as top-tier journals at the university level, authoritative journals of the Education Department of Henan Province, etc.
For over 40 years, the College has adhered to its educational mission, upholding the motto “Respect Morality, Value Virtue, Support Governance, and Educate People.” It strives to build the College into a high-quality, first-class institution that leads in the research of political science, philosophy, and public administration in Henan province, with outstanding social service capabilities and a distinct character in moral education.

College of Political Science and Public Administration, supported by seven research centers including the Public Policy and Social Management Innovation Research Center, has gradually formed eight research teams, including the Chinese Medical and Health History research team. These teams have achieved fruitful research results, currently leading more than 20 major, key, general, and youth projects funded by The National Social Science Fund of China. They have published over 200 high-level academic papers and plan to carry out international collaborative research on the following topics.
