The Business School originated from the Political Economy Teaching and Research Section of the Department of Political Education, established in 1980. It later became the Department of Finance and Economics in 1993 and merged with the Department of Marketing in 2001 to form the School of Economics and Management. In 2012, it was renamed the Business School.
In the past three years, the school has achieved various honors, such as being recognized as the Advanced Primary Party Organization in Henan Province’s Universities, a Demonstration Unit of United Front Work of Primary Party Organizations in Henan Province’s Universities, a Benchmark Department for Party Building in Henan Province, and an Advanced Group in Henan’s Education System. These achievements have significantly improved the educational outcomes of the school.
The Business School currently offers eight undergraduate majors, with Economics being designated as a national-level specialty. Additionally, Economics, Financial Management, International Economics and Trade, and Investment have been acknowledged as National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Points, while Business Administration is a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Point. The school is proud to offer a range of national-quality resource-sharing courses and has received numerous teaching achievement awards, including 6 National Teaching Achievement Awards and over 10 Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. Students at the school have excelled in various competitions, including “Challenge Cup” National College Student Curricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, China College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, garnering over ten national-level awards, more than ten provincial first prizes and over 200 university prizes. The enrollment rate has been steadily increasing, and the employment rate has consistently remained above 94%.
The academic structure of the Business School has become more robust, focusing on three disciplines: Applied Economics, Business Administration, and Management Science and Engineering. Applied Economics and Business Administration have been designated as key disciplines in Henan Province. The school also offers one school-level dominant and distinctive discipline, along with two master’s degree authorization points for Applied Economics and Business Administration.
The faculty team has expanded to include 125 staff members, with a mix of 16 professors, 32 associate professors, and 80 PhD holders. These faculty members have received various honors and awards for their teaching and research contributions.
In recent years, the Business School has made significant progress in research, with over 400 research papers published, including more than 200 CSSCI papers, nearly 50 Second top-tier papers, and over 20 monographs and textbooks . The school has also secured approval for several National Social Science Fund Projects, including 1 major project, 2 key projects and 18 other projects. Additionally, The Institute of Rural Revitalization and Common Prosperity has been recognized as one of the top ten new-type think tanks of Henan universities, and The Rural Revitalization Laboratory has been approved as one of the first batch of Philosophy and Social Science Laboratories of Henan universities.
