Faculty of Education was established in 2018, formerly known as the Teaching and Research Office of Educational Logic founded in 1951 at Pingyuan Normal College. In 1985, the Department of Education was established, which later has gone through the stages of College of Educational Science, College of Education and Teacher Development, and College of Education. It consists of College of Education, College of Psychology, College of Educational Information Technology, and College of Teacher Education. There are 145 staff, including 127 full-time teachers, and over 2,300 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.
The faculty provides the Doctor of Education program, two master’s programs in the first-level discipline of Pedagogy and Psychology. It offers 5 undergraduate programs, of which Pedagogy, Preschool Education, Educational Technology and Psychology are National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Points, and Elementary Education is a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Point. The Teacher Education subject (group) is the only one to be developed as Provincial Characteristic Backbone A-Level Discipline in the Arts category.
The faculty conducts continuous research in the fields of Principles of Education, Educational Policy and Leadership, Teacher Education, Educational Technology and Cognitive Neuropsychology, and has stronger resources in the fields of Teacher Ethics Education, History of Education, Modernization of Educational Governance, Educational Policies and Regulations, and Monitoring and Evaluation of Educational Informatization. In the past five years, the faculty has led over 20 national research projects such as the Major Bidding Project of Pedagogy sponsored by the National Social Science Foundation, 3 National Teaching Achievement Awards, and published more than 150 high-level papers.
The faculty has more than 20 provincial and ministry-level platforms such as the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Teacher Education. The school undertakes major strategic tasks such as the “Monitoring of Quality and Balanced Development of Compulsory Education” and the “Ten Thousand Primary and Secondary School Principals Training Program” in Henan Province, completes the “five-level” training with high quality, and actively supports the university reform and development of basic education.
