College of History and Culture was founded in 1951 and re-established in 1986. It provides four undergraduate programs: History, World History, Archaeology and Cultural Industry Management, three master’s programs in the first-level discipline: Chinese History, World History and Archaeology, and three professional master’s degree programs: Subject Teaching (History), Cultural Relics and Museums, among which History is a National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Point, World History is a Provincial First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Point, and Chinese History is a key discipline in Henan Province. There are 8 featured and applied research bases, including the Research Center of Bi Gan Culture and Maritime Silk Road, which is a key research base of humanities and social sciences in universities in Henan Province.
The college has a strong faculty consisting of 83 teaching staff, including 13 professors and 24 associate professors. College facilities are fully equipped, containing various state-of-the-art instruments and devices. Each faculty member has their own independent offices and complete research equipment. The library resources are abundant and the school provides over 90,000 professional books as well as more than 120 kinds of electronic databases.
The college boasts an outstanding education achievement. Since 1986, it has cultivated nearly ten thousand excellent professionals now working at all walks of life. The college has achieved a remarkable research work as well, its faculty members in Chinese history, World History, Archaeology have made outstanding achievements. In the past five years, they have led over 38 National Social Science Foundation projects, published 126 papers in CSSCI journals, 20 academic monographs, 2 series of books, and won 14 teaching or research awards at the provincial or ministry level.
