School of Marxism

School of Marxism is a key institute and model organization of Marxism study in Henan Province. The school has a center for postdoctoral studies of Marxist theory, provides doctoral and master’s programs in the first-level discipline of Marxist Theory, and offers three master’s programs in the second-level discipline, namely, Organization and Ideology Education for Children and Youth, Curriculum and Pedagogy (Ideological and Political Education), Subject Teaching (Ideological and Political Education) as well as three undergraduate programs, namely, Marxist Theory, History of the Communist Party of China, and Ideological and Political Education. The discipline of Marxist Theory at HNU School of Marxism is a provincial key discipline in Henan Province, with a grade of B- in the fifth round of disciplinary assessment by China’s Ministry of Education, and has been ranked in the top 12% of the best disciplines in China by Shanghai Ranking for three consecutive years. Ideological and Political Education is approved as a National First-class Undergraduate Major Construction Point.

The school has a number of national and provincial platforms for disciplinary studies, such as the National Training Base for Ideological and Political Education Teachers in Colleges and Universities, the National Office for Distinguished Teachers of Ideological and Political Education Courses in Colleges and Universities, Henan Office for Distinguished Teachers of Ideological and Political Education Courses, the Collaborative Research Base for the CPC History in Henan Province, and the Research Center for the CPC’s Revolution Spirit and the Red Culture Resources in Central China.

The school has more than 40 experts who have obtained national or provincial honorary academic titles, such as Distinguished Teachers of the National Ten Thousand People Plan, The State Council Special Allowance Expert, the Chief Expert of Key Program of National Social Science Foundation, the Chief Expert of Major Philosophical and Social Sciences Projects sponsored by China’s Ministry of Education, Member of Ideological and Political Education Teaching Committee of Colleges and Universities sponsored by the Ministry of Education, and Head of the Expert Steering Group for the Integrated Development of Ideological and Political Education Courses in Universities, Primary and Secondary Schools in Henan Province.

In recent years, the school has won one second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award of Higher Education (Undergraduate); one third prize of Outstanding Achievement Award of Scientific Research in Colleges and Universities (Humanities and Social Sciences) awarded by China’s Ministry of Education; 26 National Social Science Foundation projects, including one major project and three key projects; 66 provincial and ministry-level projects, including one major project and three key projects of the Ministry of Education.
