Founded in September 2008, College of International Education is an important window for the opening of HNU’s education to the outside world. It is mainly responsible for the application, implementation, evaluation and extension of Sino-foreign cooperative educational programs (undergraduates and master students), the cultivation and management of students participating in the above programs, the enrollment and management of international students, the operation and management of the “Talents Training Base for the Promotion of Chinese Language” by the Education Department of Henan Province, the initial selection and training of international Chinese language education volunteers, and the selection and dispatch of international exchange students.
The college currently has four Sino-foreign cooperative undergraduate education programs approved by the Ministry of Education, including French, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Physical Education, and Environmental Engineering, as well as a master’s degree program in Tourism Management. By introducing, integrating and innovating high-quality educational resources of foreign universities, it aims to improve the internationalization level of textbook selection, curriculum system and educational management modes, so that students can enjoy a world-class higher education without going abroad.
The college has been approved for Confucius Institute Scholarship Program for Chinese Language Teachers in South Asian Countries, and Henan Provincial Government Scholarship Program for Foreign Students. Every year, it recruits Chinese language advanced students, professional students and degree students around the world, with students studying in the university from such countries as Germany, Poland, the USA, South Korea, Japan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Cambodia, etc .The college regularly carries out a variety of extracurricular activities and organizes language practice and cultural visits, so that the international students can learn more about China’s national conditions, history and culture in their spare time.
The college has established the “Talents Training Base for the Promotion of Chinese Language in Henan Province”, which is one of the first Chinese language promotion bases in Henan Province. It trains qualified Chinese teachers and volunteers for the promotion of Chinese language, and provides a broad international exchange platform for teachers and students.
