2024-06-25To implement the strategies for invigorating China by developing science and education and training competent workforce, and to echo with the call for training exceptional innovative talents which was put forward on the 20th National Congress of the CPC, HNU established Junfu Honors College in June 2022 with the efforts of the entire university, aiming to train innovative students for the university and the country. Junfu Honors College, named after Mr. Li Junfu, a famous chemist, educator, and former president of HNU, is an honorary academy of HNU that provides targeted training for outstanding undergraduates.
Junfu Honors College implements a collegiate education, which relys on the strongest disciplines of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology (including biological sciences and biotechnology) in the university, and admits outstanding students with good potential in the above four discipline. Students enrolled in the college will be tutored by the best teachers, provided with first-class study environment and a strong academic atmosphere. The college focuses on cultivating both moral and intellectual excellence and training innovative students who are capable of taking up great responsibilities.
The college respects the law and principles of cultivating top-notch innovative talents, highlights the features of collegiate education, tutorial model, credit system, small class teaching, tailored training and internationalized pattern, and gathers high-quality resources from inside and outside the university. The college develops a collaborative work mechanism between schools, adopts personalized training plans, and implements a tutorial system during the whole process. The college builds honorary courses, employs renowned professors to give lectures, conducts small-class and seminar training, emphasizes the integration of science and education, and expands students’ global vision to create the best environment that integrates teacher-student exchanges, collision of ideas, innovation and practice, cultural immersion, and life services. In this way the college aims to provide a broad platform for a quick growth of young scholars who aspire to engage in basic disciplinary research, and to lay a solid foundation for students to become the academic leaders of the future.
